FINANCIAL AID SPECIALIST
This is a year-round position with full-time administrative appointment in the Financial Aid Department. This position will report to the Director of Financial Aid. Under the direction of the Director of Financial Aid, the Financial Aid Specialist is responsible for providing information and assistance to potential students regarding the financial aid application process and potential funding options.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Duties are performed in an office setting. Working effectively and collaboratively in a team environment is a must. This is a non-exempt, full-time regular position. Normal hours are Monday - Thursday, 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM with a 30-minute paid lunch. Work schedules may vary based on operational needs. Overtime may be required.
WAGE RANGE
$21 - $22 Per Hour The job posting includes the expected hiring wage range while the full wage scale for this position can be calculated by starting with the hiring range and increasing the wage three percent annually over the duration of employment. Increase in wages depends on approval of an annual budget and is not guaranteed. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Associate's degree or Certificate of Completion from an Accredited Career School. Experience with Microsoft Office programs. Will on occasion be required to drive on behalf of Perry Technical Institute. Employee must possess a working vehicle, hold a valid driver's license, have an acceptable driving record, and produce proof of insurance. Must be willing to consent to a drug test. Must be able to read, speak, and effectively communicate in English.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bilingual (fluent in English & Spanish language). Working knowledge of federal financial aid programs. Experience with financial aid management systems. Experience working in an academic setting.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
: Have good attendance; communicate effectively and interface with students and staff in a professional, approachable manner. Explain financial aid programs, eligibility requirements and funding options to prospective and current students and their families. Greet visitors and provide one-on-one assist students with the electronic
FAFSA/WASFA
application, Master Promissory Notes, counseling sessions and other required forms. Review and process financial aid applications and determine student eligibility and award federal and state funds in accordance with applicable regulations, policies and procedures. Conduct Financial Planning Sessions with students and families, in person or virtually, to review educational costs, financial aid offers, financing options, and projected out-of-pocket expenses. Assist in identifying additional funding sources and developing plans to meet educational costs. To-Do List student outreach for assigned letter range (calls, emails, texts, post cards). Manage assigned financial aid funding sources, including eligibility review, awarding and disbursing funds, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations or fund requirement, monitoring fund balances and completing reconciliation and reporting activities. Provide timely and professional customer service by responding to student and family inquiries through a variety of communication channels including email, text, telephone, virtual, and in-person interactions. Perform general administrative and office support duties, including maintaining organized and accurate electronic student files, processing imaging financial aid documents, preparing mail, copying and organizing financial aid forms, and monitoring office supply inventory.
