Job Description

Posting Details District Five is one of six districts of the New Mexico Department of Transportation. The boundaries of District Five include the following counties: Torrance, Santa Fe, Los Alamos, Rio Arriba, Taos, and San Juan. Employees in the District are responsible for providing the Maintenance, Construction, Engineering Support, and Business support measures of the Department to ensure the safety of the public as well as efficient highways. This job is located in the District 5- Santa Fe Campus/Administrative Office As a valued new employee to NMDOT, you may be eligible to receive three (3) days of administrative leave upon your start date. This is applicable to external hires not within the State of New Mexico Government. Interviews are anticipated to be conducted within Two (2) weeks of Closing Date. Why does the job exist? This position provides financial assistance at the entry level in the accounting department by auditing, processing, and reconciling all transactions within accounts payable, inventory, fixed assets, budgeting and contract maintenance for the District Five office. How does it get done? This position is responsible for retrieving, recording, and processing supplier invoices on a daily basis. Position will also ensure payments are made in a timely manner and submit them to the General office in compliance with department rules and regulations. Who are the customers? Department of Transportation employees, vendors, and suppliers. Ideal Candidate Department of Transportation employees, vendors, and suppliers. Minimum Qualification High School diploma or Equivalency and six (6) months experience in bookkeeping, office administration, auditing, accounting, and/or finance. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling six (6) months may substitute for the required experience. Employment Requirements Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's License. Working Conditions Work is performed primarily in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer to include working with computers, faxes, copiers and printers, and phone usage with extended periods of sitting, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, reaching, kneeling and crawling.
