RM Advisory Services (RMAS) is seeking a Financial Analyst to support WMATA's Office of the Chief Financial Officer. This is a strong opportunity for an early-career analyst who wants hands-on experience with financial modeling, forecasting, budget analysis, and executive decision support. You will build models, tools, and analyses that help leaders understand costs, forecast performance, evaluate options, and make informed financial decisions. What You'll Do Build Excel-based financial models and forecasting tools for personnel costs, revenue, contracts, grants, and operating expenses Support two-year and six-year financial forecasting and long-range affordability analysis Perform budget-to-actual variance and expense trend analysis Develop business cases, cost-benefit analyses, and staffing alternative analyses Forecast fare and non-fare revenue and perform scenario and sensitivity analysis Support grant, subsidy, contract, operational, and energy cost analyses Create reusable templates, dashboards, and reporting tools Prepare clear Excel, PowerPoint, and Word summaries for leadership Required Skills Bachelor's degree required in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, Public Administration, Data Analytics, or a related field 2-5 years of relevant experience in financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, or data analysis specific to the government or transportation field. Must be located in the Washington, DC metropolitan area Strong Excel and financial modeling skills Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills Government and/or transportation sector experience strongly preferred Why This Role Is Exciting This role goes beyond traditional budgeting. You will work across workforce costs, revenue, contracts, grants, operations, and long-range financial planning while supporting decisions within a major public transportation organization. You will have the opportunity to build tools, solve problems, and help tell the story behind the numbers. Required Experience Minimum of 2-5 years of relevant experience in financial analysis preferably in the government or transportation space. Must be in the Washington DC metro area.
