full-time Accounting Manager Carter Mackenzie is partnered with a Denver-based distribution company, part of a larger publicly traded national organization. The organization is well-established in the marketplace and continues to grow, and this newly created Accounting Manager role reflects an investment in building out its accounting leadership team. The company values work-life balance and strives for a 40-45 hour week even during close. This person will report to a Controller who wants someone who can grow into the next level of leadership over time. The role will oversee a team of 4-5 and works closely with Sales and Operations, along with regular exposure to VPs and senior executives, so strong communication skills are essential. This is an opportunity to lead and mentor an ownership-driven team.
What you will be doing:
Lead and review month-end close, including account reconciliations and supporting SOX controls and documentation Manage and develop a team of 4-5 accounting staff, including coaching, delegation, and performance management Support forecasting and reporting needs in partnership with Sales, Merchandising, and Operations Review contract terms and ensure timely maintenance and interpretation Drive continuous improvement and build a culture of ownership across the team Present financial information clearly to VPs and executive leadership What you need: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance 5+ years of accounting/finance experience, including 1+ year managing staff CPA or CPA eligible preferred Strong understanding of US GAAP and internal controls Advanced Excel skills, including VLOOKUPs and pivot tables Experience with enterprise-level ERP systems (Oracle, SAP, JD Edwards, PeopleSoft) Comfortable working out of the South Denver office (4 days/wk)
Salary:
$105,000-$120,000 base + 30% annual bonus Local candidates only No third parties or C2C.
