full-time Position Overview A $50 million privately held manufacturing company is seeking a hands-on Accounting Operations Manager to oversee day-to-day transactional and general accounting activities. This is an individual contributor role reporting directly to the Financial Controller. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a highly manual environment, is detail-oriented, and can independently manage multiple accounting processes and deadlines. Primary Areas of Responsibility General Accounting

  • approximately 60%: Manage prepaid expenses, commissions, account reconciliations, journal entries, supporting schedules, and other general ledger activities. Manual Billing
  • approximately 20%: Prepare, review, and issue customer invoices accurately and on schedule, including nonstandard or manually calculated billings. Accounts Receivable
  • approximately 20%: Maintain customer accounts, apply cash receipts, monitor aging, research discrepancies, and follow up on outstanding balances.

Additional Responsibilities Support the monthly close process by preparing journal entries, reconciliations, schedules, and account analyses. Calculate, record, and reconcile commissions and other recurring accruals or prepaid balances. Maintain accurate customer and transaction records within QuickBooks and supporting spreadsheets. Research and resolve billing, payment, and account discrepancies in partnership with internal departments and customers. Prepare reports and supporting documentation for management, audits, and other business needs. Identify opportunities to improve the accuracy, consistency, and efficiency of accounting processes while operating within the company's current manual environment. Assist the Financial Controller with ad hoc accounting projects and other responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred. Progressive experience in general accounting, billing, and accounts receivable. Strong hands-on QuickBooks experience is required. Solid understanding of general ledger accounting, reconciliations, prepaid expenses, accruals, and journal entries. Strong Excel skills and the ability to work accurately with detailed, manually maintained data. Experience in a privately held or manufacturing environment is preferred but not required. Ability to prioritize competing deadlines and work independently with limited oversight. Strong analytical, organizational, follow-through, and communication skills.
