Job Description
ACCOUNTING & FINANCE MANAGER
Experienced, hands-on accounting professional wanted for a growing multi-location organization. We are seeking an Accounting & Finance Manager who can take ownership of the day-to-day accounting function in a fast-paced, lean organization. This is not an oversight-only position. The successful candidate will be expected to roll up their sleeves, perform the work, identify problems, and maintain accurate financial information across multiple locations and business operations. We are looking for someone with strong accounting knowledge and practical experience - not simply someone who can post transactions or explain the difference.Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and maintain records for multiple locations
- Review daily sales and ensure transactions are properly posted
- Prepare and make bank deposits
- Perform bank and account reconciliations
- Research and resolve discrepancies and unusual transactions
- Monitor income and expenses and identify variances or trends
- Maintain accurate general ledger accounts
- Assist with month-end closing and financial reporting
- Prepare financial information and supporting documentation for the organization's outside CPA firm
- Manage and maintain insurance records and related financial/administrative responsibilities
- Review accounting activity for accuracy, completeness, and proper classification
- Develop and maintain reliable financial reports for management
- Identify weaknesses or inconsistencies in accounting processes and recommend improvements
- Work closely with management and the administrative office to ensure financial information is timely and accurate.
What we are looking for:
The ideal candidate will have solid accounting experience and a strong understanding of how the numbers flow through a business. This position is a good fit for someone who enjoys being hands-on and wants significant responsibility for the accuracy and integrity of the organization's financial information. You should be organized, detail-oriented, analytical, dependable, and comfortable working independently. You should also be willing to perform routine accounting tasks when necessary. In this organization, no task is beneath the person responsible for getting the job done. We are not looking for someone who simply wants to supervise an accounting department. This is a working management position where you will be expected to personally handle accounting responsibilities while working closely with the Administrative Office Manager and senior management.Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
- Significant professional accounting experience required
- Strong Excel spreadsheet skills
- Experience preparing and analyzing P&Ls
- Strong general ledger and reconciliation experience
- Experience working with external CPAs preferred
- Excellent attention to detail and follow-through
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgement.
