Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Accounting Manager to oversee our organization's financial operations. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in GAAP, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance, with a proven track record in corporate accounting, non-profit accounting, and public accounting environments. This role offers an opportunity to lead financial processes, mentor team members, and ensure accurate financial management across multiple platforms, including QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, and PeopleSoft. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent analytical skills, a deep understanding of financial concepts, and the ability to interpret complex financial data to support strategic decision-making. Responsibilities Oversee all aspects of financial statement preparation and ensure compliance with GAAP and other regulatory standards. Manage the general ledger, perform account reconciliations, and oversee month-end and year-end closing processes. Lead financial analysis, including cash flow analysis, budgeting, and forecasting to support organizational goals. Supervise the preparation of regulatory reports and ensure adherence to relevant laws such as securities law and regulations specific to non-profit entities like LIHTC programs. Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and bank reconciliations using various financial software tools such as Sage, Xero, or PeopleSoft. Ensure compliance with internal controls, including adherence to SOX requirements, and implement best practices for internal auditing processes. Mentor and develop junior accounting staff, fostering a collaborative environment focused on continuous improvement in technical skills such as double entry bookkeeping, journal entries, and account analysis. Coordinate with external auditors during audits and assist in implementing recommendations for process improvements. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of evolving regulations related to governmental accounting, nonprofit finance, and private equity investments. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or equivalent certification preferred. Extensive experience in corporate accounting, with a strong background in financial statement preparation and regulatory reporting. Proficiency with multiple accounting software platforms including QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, and enterprise systems like PeopleSoft. Deep understanding of key financial concepts such as debits & credits, accrual accounting, balance sheet reconciliation, and journal entries. Knowledge of specialized areas such as LIHTC, non-profit accounting, governmental accounting, securities law, and legal aspects like Wills & Trusts Law is advantageous. Demonstrated ability to mentor teams effectively while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Strong analytical skills with the capacity for financial report writing, interpretation, and presentation for executive leadership. Familiarity with regulatory frameworks including SOX compliance; experience with tax regulations is a plus. Excellent communication skills combined with high ethical standards and attention to detail. This position is integral to maintaining the integrity of our financial operations while supporting strategic growth initiatives through sound financial management practices.
