Job Description
Description We are looking for an accomplished Accounting Manager/Supervisor to lead core accounting activities and deliver accurate, timely financial information for the organization in Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois. This position offers the opportunity to guide daily accounting functions, strengthen reporting processes, and support sound financial decision-making through strong oversight and analysis. The ideal candidate brings hands-on accounting expertise, sound judgment, and the ability to balance detail-oriented execution with team leadership.
Responsibilities:
- Direct daily accounting workflows across the general ledger, payables, receivables, cash activity, and account reconciliation functions.
- Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close cycles to ensure financial results are completed accurately and within established deadlines.
- Prepare and examine financial statements, journal entries, supporting schedules, and balance sheet reconciliations for completeness and accuracy.
- Maintain the integrity of the chart of accounts and accounting records while ensuring alignment with applicable standards and internal policies.
- Review and authorize accounting transactions such as invoices, entries, and reconciliations to support strong financial controls.
- Manage vendor payment and customer billing activities, including follow-up on outstanding balances and coordination with external partners.
- Monitor bank activity, complete cash reconciliations, and provide visibility into cash position and related trends.
- Partner with auditors, tax advisors, and internal stakeholders to support audits, compliance activities, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting needs.
- Identify and implement process enhancements that improve efficiency, consistency, and the overall effectiveness of accounting operations.
- Lead, coach, and develop accounting team members while promoting accountability and continuous improvement within the department.

- At least five years of progressively responsible accounting experience, including prior leadership or supervisory exposure.
- Strong command of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting practices.
- Demonstrated success managing month-end and year-end close activities.
- Practical experience with general ledger accounting, journal entries, account reconciliations, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including use of formulas, pivot tables, and financial data analysis.
- Experience working with accounting software or enterprise resource planning systems.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills, with a consistent focus on accuracy and meeting deadlines.
