_PARAGRAPH JOB_DESCRIPTION.SHARE.HTML Midland, Michigan Management 8:00 - 5:00 Regular Full-Time Day Shift Professional Coding/Billing 47879 Job Description Summary The manager is responsible for the development and implementation of new billing, reimbursement and collection policies and procedures, which improve and maximize MyMichigan Medical Groups (MMG) cash flow and customer service. The position is responsible for managing the direction of all centralized billing functions which include Insurance Billing, and Support Services. Responsibilities (25%)
  • Plans, develops, recommends and implements new or different procedures for the Central Billing Office, which will result in improvements in receivable days and cash flow while maintaining the goodwill of the community. (25%)
  • Manages, leads, coordinates and directs the activities of the Central Billing Office employees. Works as a liaison between the Regional Directors, Practice Managers, Coding Resource Manager, Coding Consultants and the other MMG Central Billing Office (Alma/Midland). (25%)
  • Assesses and ensures that the department is operating in such a manner that the productivity, quality and average days outstanding is maintained or improved. (25%)
  • Actively participates with other MyMichigan Medical Group staff and committees to educate, improve and develop an awareness of third-party billing requirements, collection procedures, and other pertinent areas of business relative to centralized billing operations.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Establishes training programs for employees in a formalized setting to ensure the incumbent is performing in a satisfactory manner. Perform ongoing staff education. Maintains fiscal responsibility for monitoring the department operating budgets and capital budgets. Preferred:
4-year degree in Business Administration or health care service management or related field.with coding credentials, preferably Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certificate or Certified Coding Specialist-Physician Office (CCS-P) certificate Other Information
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND SKILLS
Minimum of eight years working experience, with at least five of those years in a health care setting with demonstrated leadership skills.
Preferred:
ten years experience, five years in a physicians billing setting, with two years managerial experience in a computerized setting. Outstanding written and oral communication skills. Office equipment skills, organizational and analytical skills. Human relation skills, interviewing and excellent people skills required. Two years in a computerized setting which utilized various PC software required. Mandatory tuberculosis (TB) testing must be done annually. Mandatory Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) training must be completed annually according to the Exposure Control Plan.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS
Exposure to stressful situations, including those involving public contact, as well as, trauma, grief and death. Able to wear personal protective equipment that includes latex materials or appropriate substitute if required for your position. Is able to move freely about facility with or without an assisted device and must be able to perform the functions of the job as outlined in the job description. Overall vision and hearing is necessary with or without assisted device(s). Frequently required to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time. May require frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling or crouching. Some exposure to blood borne pathogens and other potentially infectious material. Must follow MyMichigan Health bloodborne pathogen and TB testing as required. Ability to handle multiple tasks, get along with others, work independently, regular and predictable attendance and ability to stay awake. Overall dexterity is required including handling, reaching, grasping, fingering and feeling. May require repetition of these movements on a regular to frequent basis.
