Position Summary JMA Pediatrics is seeking an experienced and analytical Accounting & Financial Operations Lead to serve as a key financial resource for the practice, supporting financial stewardship, operational decision-making, and long-term strategic planning. This is a high-impact individual contributor role responsible for overseeing the day-to-day financial operations of the organization while providing financial insight and analytical support to executive leadership. The position serves as a key resource for financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash management, internal controls, and operational decision-making. While the role includes hands-on responsibility for certain accounting functions, its primary focus is ensuring the integrity of financial information, identifying trends and opportunities, supporting strategic initiatives, and improving financial processes across the organization. The ideal candidate combines strong technical accounting expertise with the ability to think critically and translate financial data into actionable business insights. Success in this role requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills, advanced Excel proficiency, experience with accounting systems such as QuickBooks, and the ability to balance strategic thinking with attention to detail in a fast-paced environment. Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. Equivalent experience with progressive financial responsibility will also be considered. 5+ years of experience in accounting, financial operations, financial reporting, or a similar role with increasing levels of responsibility. Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, budgeting, cash management, internal controls, and financial operations. Experience preparing and analyzing financial statements, monitoring financial performance, and supporting budgeting and forecasting activities. Demonstrated ability to identify trends, evaluate financial and operational data, and provide actionable recommendations to support organizational decision-making. Experience managing payroll processes, banking relationships, reconciliations, bookkeeping, and month-end or year-end financial activities. Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and commitment to accuracy and data integrity. Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills with the ability to balance strategic priorities and day-to-day operational responsibilities. Effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain financial information to non-financial audiences. Ability to prioritize competing demands, manage multiple deadlines, and work independently in a fast-paced environment. Technical Skills Advanced proficiency with QuickBooks or comparable accounting and financial management systems. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including financial modeling, reporting, pivot tables, lookups, data analysis, and process automation. Experience with payroll, timekeeping, and benefits administration systems. Experience developing financial reports, dashboards, and key performance indicators to support leadership decision-making. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other business applications used for financial analysis, reporting, and collaboration. Desired Characteristics Ability to operate in a role similar to a controller within a lean organizational structure while remaining a hands-on individual contributor. Ability to move comfortably between strategic financial analysis and detailed transactional work, recognizing that both are critical to organizational success. Continuous improvement mindset with a focus on process optimization, efficiency, accuracy, and scalability. Experience in healthcare, physician practice management, professional services, or other multi-site service organizations preferred. Experience supporting Human Resources administration.
