Job Description
Real Estate Accounting Manager Vaco $125,000.00 - $165,000.00 / yr 401(k), retirement plan United States, Jersey, Red Bank Aug 05, 2026 Our client, a growing commercial real estate investment and development company, is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to join their finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for a property accounting professional looking to play a key role in managing the financial operations of a diverse real estate portfolio while partnering closely with executive leadership, Asset Management, Property Management, lenders, and external partners.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, hands-on, and thrives in a collaborative environment with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Responsibilities Oversee the monthly close process for an assigned portfolio of commercial real estate properties and related entities, ensuring accuracy and timely financial reporting. Review monthly operating reports and financial statements prepared by an outsourced accounting team. Prepare lender and investor reporting packages while monitoring compliance with loan covenants and reporting requirements. Coordinate construction draw requests and supporting documentation while serving as the primary liaison with lenders throughout the funding process. Monitor and oversee cash management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and overall financial activity for assigned properties. Serve as a primary point of contact for tenant and vendor accounting inquiries. Participate in the annual budgeting and forecasting process, including preparation of required financial schedules. Partner closely with Asset Management, Property Management, and executive leadership on financial analysis and operational initiatives. Coordinate year-end audit and tax preparation with external auditors and tax advisors, including preparation of supporting schedules. Manage the relationship with the outsourced accounting provider, ensuring timely completion of deliverables and maintaining quality standards. Review draft financial statements and tax returns prior to final approval. Review Common Area Maintenance (CAM) reconciliations and respond to tenant inquiries as needed. Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, internal policies, lender requirements, and regulatory guidelines. Support additional accounting and finance projects as assigned by executive leadership. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. 5+ years of property accounting or commercial real estate accounting experience. Strong understanding of financial reporting, account reconciliations, month-end close, and property accounting. Experience working with commercial real estate portfolios, leases, CAM reconciliations, and lender reporting. Proficiency with Yardi or another commercial real estate/property management ERP system. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact effectively across departments and with external stakeholders. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining exceptional attention to detail. Preferred Experience Commercial real estate investment or property management experience. Experience managing or reviewing work performed by an outsourced accounting team. Familiarity with construction draws and lender reporting. Experience preparing annual budgets and coordinating year-end audit and tax processes.
