In person About Us We are a growing, multi-entity company providing Plumbing, HVAC, Septic, and related services to residential and commercial customers. With approximately 100 employees and sub-contractors across several companies and divisions, we are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Accounting Manager to lead and improve our internal accounting operations. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys understanding the numbers behind the business—not just maintaining the books. The Accounting Manager will work closely with executive leadership and our outside CPA to maintain accurate financial records, analyze company performance, improve accounting processes, and provide meaningful financial information to support business decisions. Job Summary The Accounting Manager will serve as the primary internal accounting professional for the company and its related entities. This position will oversee and participate in day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, accounts payable and receivable, reconciliations, month-end and year-end close activities, job costing, and financial analysis. The Accounting Manager will report directly to the COO/CFO and work closely with executive leadership and the company's outside CPA. This position will also supervise and provide financial oversight and coordination related to payroll processes performed by the HR Coordinator. The ideal candidate is highly organized, analytical, and comfortable working independently. They should be able to identify trends, solve problems, improve processes, and provide leadership with a clear and accurate understanding of the company's financial position and performance. Key ResponsibilitiesAccounting and Financial Management Lead and participate in the day-to-day accounting operations for multiple companies and entities. Maintain accurate and timely financial records using QuickBooks Enterprise. Prepare and review monthly financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, cash flow information, and supporting reports. Lead the month-end and year-end close processes. Monitor cash flow, banking activity, expenses, liabilities, and other key financial indicators. Perform and review bank, credit card, and other account reconciliations. Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable processes to ensure accuracy, timely processing, and appropriate follow-up. Monitor outstanding receivables, vendor obligations, and other financial commitments. Maintain accurate general ledger activity and supporting documentation. Financial Analysis and Leadership Reporting Prepare recurring financial and operational reports for executive leadership. Analyze financial performance and identify trends, variances, risks, and opportunities. Assist with budgeting, forecasting, expense monitoring, and financial planning. Develop and improve financial reports that provide meaningful insight into company performance. Analyze profitability, expenses, labor costs, material costs, and other key financial metrics. Identify opportunities to improve profitability, cash flow, operational efficiency, and financial controls. Provide accurate and timely financial information to support leadership decision-making. Construction and Service Accounting Oversee and improve job costing and financial tracking related to construction and service operations. Monitor labor, material, subcontractor, and other costs associated with company operations and projects. Assist leadership in analyzing job, division, and operational profitability. Support financial reporting and analysis across multiple companies and divisions. Work with operations and leadership to improve the accuracy and usefulness of job-costing and operational financial information. Accounting Leadership and Process Improvement Supervise, support, and provide direction to accounting personnel. Establish and maintain clear accounting procedures, workflows, and internal controls. Review existing accounting processes and recommend improvements to increase efficiency, accuracy, and consistency. Assist in developing systems and processes that support the continued growth of the company. Work collaboratively with operations, HR, and company leadership to ensure accurate financial information and documentation. Payroll, External CPA, and Compliance Coordination Provide financial oversight and coordination related to payroll processes performed by the HR Coordinator. Review payroll-related reporting, reconciliations, and accounting entries as needed. Work closely with the company's outside CPA by providing accurate financial records, reconciliations, reports, and supporting documentation. Coordinate the preparation of information needed for tax filings, year-end accounting, and other external reporting requirements. Assist with audits, reviews, and other financial examinations as needed. Maintain organized and accurate financial records and documentation. Qualifications Required 5+ years of progressively responsible accounting experience. Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and general ledger management. Experience with month-end close, account reconciliations, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and financial reporting. Strong experience using QuickBooks or similar accounting software. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and/or Google Sheets, including the ability to organize, analyze, and report financial data. Experience with Apple products and/or Google Workspace products highly preferred. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for improvement. Experience working independently and managing multiple priorities. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Ability to communicate financial information clearly to both financial and non-financial stakeholders. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive financial information. Preferred Qualifications Experience with QuickBooks Enterprise . Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; equivalent combinations of relevant education, training, and accounting experience will also be considered. Previous supervisory or management experience. Experience with multi-entity accounting. Experience in construction, home services, or a similar industry. Experience with job costing, project profitability, labor and material cost analysis, or operational financial reporting. Experience working with an outside CPA or accounting firm. CPA or other relevant accounting certification is a plus but not required. Why Join Us?
