Owner About the Role Dripping Springs Sports Club is a growing youth sports and training organization, and we're building our flagship facility. We're looking for a Finance Manager who can own the day-to-day financial operations and sit down with ownership to talk through what the numbers actually mean. This is not a data-entry job. You'll run payroll and keep the books clean, but the real value is in what you do with that information — telling us which programs are making money, where spend is leaking, what our cash position looks like six months out, and what we should be thinking about that we aren't. The role covers two sides of the business: ongoing club operations, and the financial management of our flagship facility construction and development. Both matter, and they interact. Starts as a contract engagement with the intent to convert to a permanent part-time role. What You'll Own Payroll & Bookkeeping Run payroll for W-2 staff and process payments for 1099 contract trainers and coaches Maintain proper worker classification and payroll tax compliance Own the general ledger: categorize transactions, reconcile accounts, manage AP/AR Execute monthly close and produce clean, timely financial statements Organize records for the outside CPA at tax time Program-Level P&L Build and maintain profitability reporting by program line — training, camps, clinics, memberships, leagues, team contracts, facility rentals Track revenue per program against direct costs (coach hours, equipment, space, marketing) Surface which programs are carrying the business, which are break-even, and which should be repriced or retired Support pricing decisions with actual unit economics rather than gut feel Cash Flow Forecasting & Budgeting Maintain a rolling 13-week cash flow forecast Build and manage the annual operating budget; report variance monthly Model scenarios for the facility build-out — timing, capital needs, and how construction spend interacts with operating cash Flag cash constraints before they become problems Construction & Development Finance Track construction budget vs. actual on the flagship facility Manage contractor invoicing, draw requests, and supporting documentation Maintain capital expenditure records and coordinate reporting to lenders or partners Keep development costs separated cleanly from operating costs Strategic Advisory Meet regularly with ownership to review performance and talk through decisions Assess spend across the business and identify where money isn't earning its keep Bring forward the questions and considerations we should be weighing — not just answers to the ones we ask Help evaluate new programs, hires, vendors, and investments before we commit What We're Looking For Required 5+ years in accounting, finance, or business management, including full-cycle bookkeeping and payroll Hands-on proficiency with QuickBooks (or comparable) and a payroll platform such as Gusto, ADP, or Paychex Strong Excel/Google Sheets skills — comfortable building a model, not just filling in a template Demonstrated ability to translate financial data into plain-language recommendations for a non-finance owner Discretion and integrity with sensitive financial and payroll information Ability to work independently and set your own priorities in a small-company environment Preferred Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business CPA, CMA, or equivalent credential Experience with construction or real estate development accounting — job costing, draw schedules, WIP Experience in a multi-revenue-stream service business (fitness, sports, hospitality, or membership-based) Familiarity with sports/facility management platforms and their reporting exports Prior experience as a fractional or part-time finance lead for a small business Who Thrives Here You like small businesses because you can see your work move the needle. You're comfortable being the only finance person in the room, and comfortable telling an owner something he doesn't want to hear. You'd rather build the reporting once, correctly, than patch it every month. And you're genuinely interested in the business — not just the ledger.
