Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Accounting Manager/Supervisor to support a real estate property and facilities management operation in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. This Contract position calls for a hands-on accounting specialist who can oversee payables activity, strengthen financial controls, and contribute to accurate monthly and year-end reporting. The ideal candidate brings leadership experience, sound knowledge of general ledger processes, and the ability to communicate financial results clearly to internal stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
Direct the accounts payable process for homeowners associations, ensuring invoices are handled accurately and payments are completed on schedule. Provide day-to-day guidance to accounts payable team members, monitor workload distribution, and support consistent performance across the function. Maintain timely receipt and review of vendor statements so outstanding balances are monitored and obligations remain current. Oversee vendor disbursements across standard and online payment channels while reinforcing compliance with internal procedures. Support the month-end and year-end close process by preparing and coordinating journal entries and related accounting documentation. Examine account reconciliations for accuracy, resolve discrepancies, and help maintain integrity within the general ledger. Produce monthly financial reports, assess fluctuations in results, and communicate key variance drivers to leadership. Contribute to annual audit preparation by organizing schedules, responding to requests, and assisting with financial statement support. Partner with the Controller on special analyses, board reporting, and operational projects that improve reporting and accounting effectiveness. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field. At least five years of accounting experience, including a minimum of two years in a supervisory or management capacity; experience with homeowners associations is preferred. Demonstrated expertise in month-end close, general ledger activity, account reconciliations, journal entries, and audit support. Ability to work a permanent schedule of at least 40 hours per week with a dependable and accountable approach. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, Word, and Outlook. Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with excellent organization, accuracy, and administrative follow-through. Effective analytical and problem-solving abilities with close attention to detail and sound judgment.
