Job Description

We are looking for an experienced accounting leader to oversee cash management operations within a financial services environment in West Columbia, South Carolina. This role is responsible for guiding daily department activity, strengthening controls, and ensuring cash transactions are recorded accurately and resolved promptly across key financial systems. The position works closely with senior leadership, compliance, and finance partners to improve procedures, support reporting accuracy, and maintain a well-controlled operating framework.
Responsibilities:
  • Direct the day-to-day activities of the cash management function, setting priorities, guiding team performance, and ensuring consistent coverage for critical processes.
  • Oversee the full lifecycle of cash transactions, including receipts, disbursements, transfers, repayments, settlements, reversals, and related account activity, while confirming accurate posting across financial records and platforms.
  • Review bank, cash, and ledger reconciliations, investigate variances, and drive timely resolution of outstanding items to maintain complete and reliable records.
  • Monitor cash balances and exception items, leading research into unresolved, aged, residual, or unidentified amounts and ensuring appropriate corrective action is taken.
  • Approve account adjustments, fund movements, and closure activity only when documentation, authorization, and supporting records are complete and compliant with policy.
  • Build and maintain a strong internal control environment by enforcing approvals, separation of duties, access restrictions, independent review, and escalation of high-risk issues.
  • Identify workflow inefficiencies, develop improved procedures, document operating standards, and track performance measures to support continuous process improvement.
  • Partner with leadership, compliance, accounting, and finance stakeholders to address operational issues, support audit readiness, and improve the accuracy and transparency of cash-related reporting.
  • Coordinate with external banks, custodians, vendors, and internal system owners on operational matters, testing efforts, automation opportunities, and other departmental initiatives.
