Full Job Description Manager, Patient Financial Experience Overview:
The Patient Financial Services Manager leads the revenue cycle teams supporting the patient financial experience from start to finish. This includes the Patient Benefit Advisors (PBA) and the Patient Account Representatives (PAR).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Responsible for designing, implementing, and leading the teams towards organizational revenue cycle goals as they pertain to daily operations. Exceptional interdepartmental, collaboration and problem-solving skills. Proven history of successful revenue cycle and patient access leadership. Open to feedback, make observations and offer guidance to physicians, providers, and support team.
Essential Functions and Duties:
Lead the PBA and PAR teams to create excellent patient experiences while optimizing reimbursement. Ensure appropriate training and accountability metrics are in place to recognize performance and opportunities for improvement. Optimization of technology solutions that support a favorable patient financial experience (Phreesia, Healow, Podium.) Influence the front desk staff (PSRs) through quarterly training and communication channels for improved downstream revenue cycle performance and denial reduction. Support for the interpretation of patient health insurance plans, eligibility, benefits, and use of fee schedules to generate cost estimates (Phreesia super user.) Opportunities may include, but are not limited to: PBAs and PARs and their patient engagement skills, support services, training, patient payments and payment plans. Ownership of patient statement content and cadence. Patient balance collections process management through agency placement. Clinic support teams and all clinic-side processes, training, patient engagement, as the support team responsibilities affect revenue cycle support services to the patients, internal clients, and MDs/Providers. Serve as primary liaison to clinic operations leaders related to the patient financial experience, including the support of patient complaint resolution. Promote and ensure company policies and procedures are adhered to at all levels of support.
Education and Experience:
5 years of revenue cycle experience, preferably with a strong front-end focus. Strong interpersonal and leadership skills (leading teams.) Exceptional written and oral communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. Experience with electronic health records (eClinical Works, Healow, Phreesia are a plus.) Ability to work in a fast-paced and evolving healthcare environment. Problem-solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills. Proven continued education, certifications, and/or coursework relating to revenue cycle and clinical operations.
