Job Description

Finance & Bookkeeping Manager Schedule:
Approximately 14 hours per week, including some required on-site work
Compensation:
Hourly rate and benefits to be determined based on experience Reports to: Executive Director Works closely with: Finance Committee and outside accountant Position Overview Chandler Center for the Arts seeks an organized, detail-oriented Finance & Bookkeeping Manager to oversee the organization's day-to-day accounting and financial reporting. This position maintains accurate financial records, supports sound financial decision-making, and ensures compliance with nonprofit accounting and reporting requirements. The Finance and Bookkeeping Manager reports to the Executive Director, with accountability to Chandler's Finance Committee. The position has the potential to be mostly remote, however candidates must be available to work on site during the New World Festival, held annually on the Sunday of Labor Day weekend, and for check-ins throughout the year. Hours will vary week to week depending on events and programming, however higher demand times include New World Festival (Labor Day Sunday) and year end during fundraising campaigns and the Holiday Market. Key Responsibilities Manage accounts payable and receivable, vendor payments, deposits, payroll entries, sales tax filings, and annual tax documents. Record and reconcile income and expenses across bank accounts, credit cards, ticketing, donations, rentals, events, and other payment platforms. Maintain accurate financial records, including the chart of accounts, restricted funds, prepaid expenses, deferred revenue, and recurring journal entries. Prepare monthly financial statements and event reports, quarterly budget-to-actual reports, cash-flow projections, and other reports for the Executive Director and Finance Committee. Monitor cash flow, identify significant budget variances, and promptly communicate potential concerns. Support annual budgeting, tax filings, the Form 990 process, and compliance with applicable financial reporting requirements. account contributions Identify opportunities for streamlining and improving financial processes, working with staff and finance committee to implement. Qualifications Demonstrated proficiency with QuickBooks Online. Experience with accrual-based accounting; nonprofit accounting experience strongly preferred. Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet recurring deadlines, and work independently. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Sound judgment and the ability to handle confidential financial information appropriately. Ability to identify problems, take initiative, and communicate financial information clearly to staff and volunteer leadership. Interviews will begin the week of October 5.
