Construction Accounting Manager Khalek Building Services (KBS)

Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM About the Position Khalek Building Services (KBS) is seeking an experienced Construction Accounting Manager to manage and oversee the company's day-to-day accounting and project financial operations. We are a growing commercial general contractor managing multiple construction projects throughout Southeastern Wisconsin. We are looking for someone who is organized, dependable, hands-on, and experienced with the financial and accounting processes of a construction company. This is a full-time, on-site position , and regular attendance during our office hours of 8:00 AM-5:00 PM is required. Key Responsibilities Manage the company's day-to-day accounting operations. Oversee Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR). Maintain accurate financial records in QuickBooks Online and Procore. Manage construction job costing and project financial reporting. Review project budgets, commitments, costs, change orders, and billing. Manage and review subcontractor invoices and payments. Assist with and oversee monthly progress billing and pay applications. Track retainage, outstanding receivables, and subcontractor balances. Perform and oversee bank and credit card reconciliations. Ensure company credit card transactions are properly supported by receipts and assigned to the correct projects and cost codes. Manage monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing processes. Prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements and management reports. Monitor company cash flow, expenses, receivables, and overall financial performance. Work closely with project managers and company leadership to ensure project financial information is accurate. Maintain accurate vendor and subcontractor records. Coordinate with our outside CPA, banks, insurance providers, and other financial partners as needed. Maintain organized accounting records and supporting documentation. Identify accounting or project financial discrepancies and resolve them in a timely manner. Help develop and improve accounting procedures and internal controls. Provide management with clear and timely financial information. Qualifications Construction accounting experience strongly preferred. Experience working for a general contractor or construction company is highly preferred. Strong understanding of construction job costing. Experience with progress billing, pay applications, subcontractor billing, retainage, change orders, and project cost reporting. Strong knowledge of AP, AR, general ledger, reconciliations, and financial statements. Experience with QuickBooks Online required. Experience with Procore Financial Management is a strong plus. Strong Microsoft Excel skills. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines. Ability to work independently and take ownership of responsibilities. Strong communication and follow-through. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred. CPA is a plus but not required. What We Are Looking For We are looking for someone who can take ownership of the accounting function and stay ahead of deadlines without requiring constant follow-up. The right person will be proactive, dependable, organized, and comfortable working directly with company leadership, project managers, subcontractors, and vendors. This position requires regular and reliable on-site attendance Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
