Job Description

Medical Billing & Coding Consultant - Independent Contractor Thrive Weight Loss and Medical Clinic - Spokane, WA Part-Time / 1099 | Per-Claim + Hourly Consulting Thrive Weight Loss and Medical Clinic is seeking an experienced medical billing and coding consultant to help our outpatient medical practice transition from cash-pay to commercial insurance. We are newly credentialed with United Health Care, Premera Blue Cross and Cigna and anticipate a low volume of insurance claims initially. Plan to use Medicare in the near future as well. This is not a traditional billing position. We plan to submit claims internally and are looking for an experienced professional to review claims for accuracy and teach us how to properly code, submit, and manage claims independently. Responsibilities Review claims prior to submission for coding and documentation accuracy Review
CPT, ICD-10-CM, E/M
level, and modifiers Provide feedback regarding documentation needed to support billing Help identify potential denial or reimbursement issues Provide guidance on denied claims, EOBs/ERAs, corrected claims, and appeals as needed Educate provider on proper coding and billing practices Initial Training During the first month , additional paid consultation will be needed to establish our billing workflow and provide education on: E/M coding and medical decision making CPT and

selection Documentation requirements Insurance verification Claim submission EOB/ERA interpretation Denial management Premera, Cigna billing requirements Initial training may be completed in person in Spokane, WA or by video conference . Ongoing Structure After initial training, work will primarily consist of individual claim reviews on an as-needed basis . Initial claim volume is expected to be only a few claims per month and will gradually increase. Our goal is to learn from each review, so we are looking for someone who can explain the reasoning behind coding recommendations , rather than simply correct the claim. Qualifications 3+ years outpatient medical billing/coding experience Strong knowledge of CPT, ICD-10-CM, and current E/M coding Experience reviewing provider documentation Commercial insurance billing experience CPC, CPB, CCS-P, or similar certification preferred Premera Blue Cross, United Health Care, Medicare and/or Cigna experience strongly preferred Experience with PA billing, primary care, obesity medicine is a plus Compensation Independent contractor (1099) Initial training/consultation: Hourly Routine claim review: Flat fee per claim Denials/appeals or additional consultation: Hourly Please include your desired hourly consulting rate and per-claim review rate with your application.
