Medicaid Full Job Description Job Summary:
Innerlight Community Advocates is currently seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Prior Authorization Specialist to join our team on a part-time contract basis . The Prior Authorization Specialist will be responsible for obtaining and managing insurance prior authorizations and re-authorizations with Managed Care Organizations (MCOs) to ensure the continuity of client services. This position requires expeditious processing to maintain compliance with Medicaid regulations. The role offers schedule flexibility and would operate in a remote capacity.
Key Responsibilities:
Insurance Prior Authorizations and Re-Authorizations:
Prepare, submit, and track prior authorizations and re-authorizations with MCOs for initial and continued client services. Ensure all authorization requests are submitted promptly, adhering to Medicaid's timely filing requirements. Monitor authorization statuses and follow up as necessary to prevent service interruptions. Maintain comprehensive records of all authorization communications and decisions.
Administrative Support:
Assist with filing, data entry, and organization of client and insurance documentation. Collaborate with intake coordinators and service coordinators during initial intake sessions, providing necessary documentation and support. Work closely with the care team to ensure seamless coordination and continuation of client services.
Qualifications:
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of 1 year of experience in prior authorization and mental healthcare medical billing.
Skills:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook). Strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail. Excellent verbal and written communication abilities. Ability to handle confidential information with discretion. Extensive experience with Medicaid prior authorization processes and timely filing requirements is essential.
Work Schedule:
Hours:
Approximately 20 hours per week, with flexibility in scheduling to meet authorization deadlines.

Remote work in Houston, TX.
Compensation:
Hourly Rate:
