POSITION OVERVIEW GMIC
is seeking an experienced Property Desk Claim Representative to investigate, evaluate, and resolve residential and commercial property claims. Depending on the candidate's experience, qualifications, and location, this position may be performed in-office, on a hybrid schedule, or fully remotely. You'll manage claims from initial assignment through final resolution using photographs, estimates, reports, virtual inspection tools, and other available documentation. You'll coordinate with policyholders, agents, contractors, independent adjusters, and other service providers to gather the information needed to make sound coverage and settlement decisions. Most importantly, you'll help policyholders navigate property losses by communicating clearly, managing expectations, and providing dependable service throughout the claim process.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Investigate and Resolve Claims Manage property claims from initial assignment through final resolution Investigate losses, review coverage, and evaluate estimates and supporting documentation Establish appropriate reserves, negotiate settlements, and issue timely payments Identify potential fraud, subrogation, and salvage opportunities Coordinate and Communicate Serve as the primary point of contact for policyholders throughout the claim process Clearly explain coverage decisions, claim procedures, and settlement calculations Coordinate with agents, contractors, independent adjusters, and other service providers Review supplements and follow up on outstanding items to keep claims moving forward Maintain Quality Claim Files Document claim activity and decisions accurately and thoroughly Manage diaries and follow-up responsibilities in a timely manner Collaborate with team members and leadership on claim strategies Follow applicable regulations, company procedures, and claim-handling standards
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
The successful candidate will bring: Knowledge of property insurance coverage, estimating practices, and construction concepts Strong investigative, analytical, negotiation, and decision-making abilities Ability to interpret policy language and explain coverage decisions Ability to independently organize and manage multiple claims Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong attention to detail and effective follow-through A commitment to responsive, high-quality customer service Proficiency with claims-management systems, estimating software, Microsoft Office, and virtual inspection technology
QUALIFICATIONS
Associate's degree (or equivalent experience) 3-7 years of property claims adjusting experience Industry designation (AIC, CPCU, etc.) preferred Valid Wisconsin driver's license
