COMMERCIAL DEPARTMENT MANAGER
$80K-110K Base + Commission = $120K+ Negotiable Based on Experience
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Commercial Department Manager leads the Commercial Insurance Department, overseeing commercial service, remarketing, renewals, and new business operations. This role provides strategic direction, staff development, workflow management, and quality control while supporting client retention, departmental performance, regulatory compliance, and growth.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Lead, coach, mentor, and develop the Commercial Lines team.
  • Manage team goals, productivity, service expectations, training, and performance.
  • Develop and maintain Commercial Lines procedures, workflows, documentation standards, and best practices.
  • Monitor workloads, staffing, workflow distribution, and resource allocation.
  • Support complex client service issues, escalated concerns, and high-value accounts.
  • Build and maintain strong commercial client relationships and support retention strategies.
  • Oversee new business submissions, marketing, quoting, renewals, policy issuance, and binding.
  • Ensure clients are proactively contacted at least 90 days before policy renewal.
  • Support producers and advisors in achieving growth and revenue objectives.
  • Participate in meetings with prospective clients and referral partners.
  • Develop relationships with commercial underwriters and carrier partners.
  • Monitor carrier performance, appetite changes, underwriting guidelines, and market conditions.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
  • Florida 220 License
  • 5+ years of commercial lines experience, including quoting, writing, and managing commercial policies and support staff.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, risk management, or related field.
  • Extensive knowledge of commercial lines markets, products, coverages, and underwriting guidelines.
  • Knowledge of Florida commercial property, general liability, professional liability, and workers' compensation insurance.
  • Experience providing positive leadership and training to a commercial team.
  • Strong leadership and team-building abilities.
  • Ability to explain insurance concepts effectively to clients.
