Medicare Insurance Advisor Benafica, LLC Saint Paul, MN Job Details Full-time $60,000 a year 18 hours ago Qualifications Teamwork Client services Organizational skills Insurance sales Life & Health Insurance License Full Job Description Position Overview Benafica is seeking a Medicare Insurance Advisor to join our team full-time. This position is a great fit for someone who understands insurance, enjoys working directly with people, and wants to help clients navigate Medicare without the pressure of a traditional commission-driven sales environment. This is not a traditional insurance sales role. You will not be expected to spend your days cold calling, prospecting, or chasing a sales pipeline. Instead, your primary focus will be serving Benafica's existing Medicare clients and helping individuals who come to us organically or through referrals. You'll be a trusted resource clients can turn to with questions about their coverage, and you'll help them understand and evaluate their Medicare options as their needs change. You'll guide clients through their options, help them select appropriate coverage, assist with enrollments, and continue to be a resource after the enrollment is complete. What You'll Do Serve as a primary resource for Benafica's existing Medicare clients. Educate clients about Medicare and help make a complicated subject easier to understand. Explain Medicare Advantage, Medicare Supplement, Medicare Part D, and other applicable coverage options. Help clients evaluate plan options based on their healthcare needs, prescriptions, providers, preferences, and budget. Assist with Medicare enrollments and plan changes. Answer ongoing client questions about Medicare plans, coverage, enrollment periods, and related topics. Assist new Medicare clients who come to Benafica through referrals, existing relationships, or organic inquiries. Conduct annual client reviews and help existing clients determine whether their current coverage continues to meet their needs. Maintain accurate client records and documentation. Complete required Medicare, carrier, product, and compliance training. Stay current on Medicare changes and help communicate relevant information to clients. Collaborate with Benafica's broader insurance and client service teams. During the Medicare off-season, provide additional support to the team as needed, which may include assisting with individual/U65 health insurance questions and serving as a resource for insurance agents. What We're Looking For Our preference is for someone who already holds an active Minnesota insurance license and the certifications necessary to sell Medicare products in Minnesota, including current AHIP certification. However, we're also interested in candidates who may not yet have their insurance license or Medicare certifications but have the right professional background and aptitude for the role. For the right candidate, Benafica is willing to provide the training and support necessary to obtain licensing and Medicare certifications.
A strong candidate will have:
Experience in insurance, Medicare, healthcare, benefits, customer service, account management, or another client-focused field. A genuine interest in educating and helping clients rather than pursuing transactional sales. Strong verbal and written communication skills. The ability to explain complicated information in a way that is clear, patient, and approachable. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Comfort working with technology, online enrollment systems, carrier portals, and CRM tools. The ability to build relationships and establish trust with clients. A willingness to learn and stay current on Medicare rules, products, and compliance requirements. Preferred Active Minnesota Life and Health insurance license. Current AHIP Medicare certification. Medicare Advantage, Medicare Supplement, and/or Part D experience. Previous Medicare enrollment or client service experience. Existing carrier certifications or appointments. Experience with individual/U65 health insurance. Experience supporting insurance agents or brokers. Compensation & Work Environment This is a full-time, salaried position paying $60,000 annually. There is no commission structure and no expectation to build or maintain a traditional sales pipeline. Because Medicare's Annual Enrollment Period is our busiest and most collaborative time of year, this position will be onsite during AEP. Outside of AEP, there is potential for remote work based on business needs, job performance, and team coordination.
