An Insurance Underwriter evaluates and measures risk and advises businesses in insurance, banking and securities. Recommends customers to be approved for insurance coverage, and develops policies and premium levels. Reviews loan applications, evaluates credit-worthiness of loan applicants and analyzes the investment risk of a loan for the bank. Evaluates risk in different types of securities and advises clients on investments that will yield highest profits.

Job Description

First Hawaiian Bank is currently seeking an analytical and detail oriented Credit Underwriter I to join the team in the Credit department.
Compensation:
The pay range for the role is $62,000•$72,500/yr; commensurate with experience.
Work Schedule:
Monday•Friday 8:00AM•5:00PM (hours may vary) The ideal candidate will have: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration related fields; and/or equivalent work experience required Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting preferred 1 year of experience in credit analysis At least 2 years of financial analysis and/or commercial lending experience preferred Understanding of basic accounting principles and financial statements Must be organized, detail oriented and accurate when working with numbers The Credit Underwrtier I will prepare credit requests and annual reviews for existing credit facilities and analyze financial statements and underwrite credit requests fo the Bank's commerical customers, with a focus on low coplexity credits. The underwriting includes the assessment of credit, structural, business and financial risk of the borrower. The analysis will include spreading financial statements and preparation of cash flow to support credit underwriting and financial analysis.
