JOB SUMMARY
The Portfolio Manager ("PM") is responsible for managing and retaining the Bank's existing portfolio of clients. Key responsibilities include overseeing renewals and annual credit reviews, ensuring the continued quality and profitability of each relationship. The PM works closely with the Underwriting Team to prepare reports and Credit Approval Memoranda for renewals and portfolio management. While the PM may identify new business opportunities, the primary focus of the role is on retaining and expanding the existing client portfolio.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Client Relationship & Service
  • Provide the Lexicon Bank client experience to all interactions.
  • Maintain strong communication with employees, clients, shareholders, and stakeholders.
  • Identify and mitigate risks to ensure client satisfaction and Company goals.
  • Troubleshoot, escalate, and resolve client and departmental issues.
  • Actively participate in employee functions and activities. Credit & Lending Management
  • Obtain collateral, credit history, and other reports to support due diligence.
  • Complete financial analysis on lending prospects.
  • Underwrite and prepare loan presentations.
  • Properly identify all collateral using investigative tools.
  • Maintain the loan tickler system to ensure timely monitoring.
  • Assist Loan Servicing with daily call-backs and verification.
  • Assist in clearing loan and deposit technical exceptions.
  • Produce accurate loan documents and maintain relationship and imaging folders, including file naming conventions. Compliance & Risk Management
  • Ensure awareness of and adherence to loan policy requirements, along with state and federal lending regulations.
  • Complete all required compliance training.
  • Understand and comply with regulatory guidelines, including BSA, GLBA, and related requirements.
  • Provide auditors with required information and serve as a liaison as needed.
  • Assist with internal projects and committee work as designated by the Chief Credit Officer (CCO). Reporting & Internal Support
  • Provide executive management and colleagues with accurate information and reports upon request.
  • Support the Company's goals and values through ethical methods and full compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and Company policies.
  • Complete underwriting documents accurately and on time. Leadership & Integrity

  • Work to achieve the goals established in the PM Incentive Plan.
ADDITIONAL ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

EDUCATION
High school diploma required; some college coursework or an associate degree preferred.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in loan underwriting and/or credit management.
  • Extensive working knowledge of lending products and general lending guidelines.
  • Advanced proficiency in financial analysis software.
  • Strong knowledge of computer systems and evolving technologies.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, with a demonstrated ability to interact effectively across all levels of management and foster strong relationships.
  • Intermediate knowledge of banking and financial institution operations, systems, and practices.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This role is performed primarily indoors in an environmentally controlled office setting. The position may involve occasional exposure to sounds and noise levels that can be distracting. Work is conducted in close physical proximity to others, requiring frequent collaboration and communication. Essential functions may require extended periods of sitting at a computer, as well as occasional standing and walking. The role also requires regular use of computers, including prolonged screen time for processing transactions, research, and reporting.
