Role of Investment Real Estate The Investment Real Estate team is responsible for the origination, monitoring, and servicing of RGA's commercial real estate portfolio, which includes approximately 940 commercial mortgage loans and 75 commercial real estate equity joint ventures. Within the broader Real Estate platform, the Asset Management team provides comprehensive portfolio surveillance, high-level servicing, annual loan valuations, and support for the underwriting process, along with other portfolio management and surveillance responsibilities. Internship Overview The Real Estate Intern will gain broad exposure to multiple work centers within Investment Real Estate, including portfolio surveillance, asset management, loan servicing, and new loan underwriting. The internship is designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of how these functions work together to support the ongoing performance and oversight of a commercial mortgage loan portfolio. The Real Estate Intern will learn how to analyze market data, borrower financial information, property operating performance, and rent rolls, while gaining an understanding of how these inputs are used to evaluate commercial real estate value, assess loan performance, and support portfolio management decisions across various property types. Responsibilities The intern will work on the Asset Management/Surveillance team and assist real estate analysts with activities related to ongoing portfolio monitoring, with a primary focus on the annual loan quality rating process. Responsibilities will include collecting and analyzing property-level data, reviewing borrower financials, preparing spreadsheet analyses of income, expenses, and rent rolls, and supporting broader surveillance efforts within the commercial mortgage loan portfolio. The intern may also participate in watch list discussions, assist with research related to emerging loan risks, and support new loan underwriting by helping prepare loan packages for Credit Committee review. Cross-functional projects may be assigned as time permits. Requirements Must be enrolled as a full-time college student at the Junior, Senior, or Graduate level pursuing a degree in Business, Finance, Real Estate, or a related field at an accredited university Strong verbal and written communication skills Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word; ability to organize, interpret, and present data clearly Interest in technology, process improvement, automation, or data tools preferred Self-motivated, curious, detail-oriented, and eager to learn in a collaborative team environment What you can expect from
