Job Description
We are seeking a Loan Officer Assistant to support a strong, long-standing producing team in Wilmington, NC. This is not a back-office filing role. You will work directly with one or more senior loan officers on a high-volume team, helping move files from application through closing and supporting the sales side of the business.
The Loan Officer Assistant facilitates the sale and processing of mortgage packages within company policy and state and federal residential lending law.
This is an exciting opportunity. The ideal candidate is a motivated self-starter who wants to enter and grow in mortgage finance. You will start as a sales assistant to a seasoned producer, with a clear path to become a stand-alone or team-partner loan officer.
Key Duties and ResponsibilitiesAssist clients with questions, requests, and researchProvide regular updates to borrowers and their real estate agentsWork closely with originating loan officer(s) and processors to complete applications, collect credit information and documentation, and follow up on underwriting conditionsCoordinate closings with borrower, seller, title agent/attorney, and the closing departmentSupport marketing and promotional activity for the originating loan officer(s), including social media and CRMConduct all work in a manner consistent with obligations to customers, company policy, and applicable state and federal regulationStay current on company policies and procedures that affect processingStay current on legal, regulatory, economic, competitive, and technology changes that affect real estate lending, products, and underwriting guidelinesKnowledge, Skills & AbilitiesStrong organization and prioritization; able to keep pace with a full pipelineFlexible hours when deadlines require itCalm problem-solving under time pressureProficiency in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel)Ability to learn mortgage origination and processing systems quicklyPositive working relationships with the production team and other departmentsExcellent interpersonal and phone skillsEducation & ExperienceBusiness or finance background helpful, not requiredMinimum two (2) years mortgage experience preferredAssociates or Bachelors degree, or equivalent relevant experienceStrong math skillsComfortable with social mediaMortgage Loan Originator license necessary. CompensationBase salary of $26K to $36K based on experience + bonus Wilmington, NC area resident strongly preferred.
