Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Mortgage Loan Officer to join our financial services team. In this role, you will be responsible for guiding clients through the mortgage lending process, from initial consultation to loan closing. Your expertise in loan origination, industry regulations, and customer service will help clients secure the best mortgage solutions while ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and standards. This position offers an exciting opportunity to build lasting client relationships and contribute to the growth of our mortgage lending division. Responsibilities Assist clients in understanding mortgage options, including retail and commercial lending products, ensuring they receive tailored solutions that meet their financial goals. Evaluate creditworthiness through credit analysis, income verification, and debt-to-income ratio assessments using Mortgage Loan Origination Systems (LOS) and financial software. Prepare and review loan documentation, contracts, escrow agreements, and compliance with regulations such as TILA (Truth in Lending Act) and Fair Housing laws. Conduct negotiations with clients to facilitate smooth loan approvals while maintaining adherence to industry standards and risk management protocols. Collaborate with underwriters, processors, and other team members to ensure accurate loan processing and timely underwriting decisions. Stay current on industry knowledge of financial regulations including FNMA (Fannie Mae) guidelines, banking compliance, and mortgage servicing practices. Maintain excellent client communication throughout the loan lifecycle, providing updates and answering questions promptly to foster trust and satisfaction. Skills Proven experience as a Loan Officer or in retail lending within the mortgage or banking industry. Strong negotiation skills combined with sales expertise to promote mortgage products effectively. Proficiency with Loan Origination Systems (LOS), accounting software, and financial software tools such as Arive, LendingPad or industry-specific platforms. Deep understanding of mortgage lending regulations including
TILA, FNMA
guidelines, Fair Housing laws, and banking compliance standards. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to build lasting relationships through effective communication and client engagement. Basic math skills including 10-key typing proficiency for accurate data entry and calculations related to credit analysis and risk assessment. Knowledge of escrow processes, mortgage servicing procedures, underwriting practices, and loan processing steps. Ability to analyze credit reports, perform risk assessments for commercial lending when applicable, and ensure adherence to financial compliance standards.
