The Post-Closing Specialist will work closely with experienced attorneys, paralegals, closing professionals, and lending clients while developing a strong understanding of commercial loan documentation, collateral, compliance, and servicing matters. Responsibilities
- Reviewing closed loan files for completeness, accuracy, and compliance
- Compiling, organizing, scanning, and distributing final loan packages
- Preparing original document packages and coordinating mailing and delivery to lending clients and other parties
- Maintaining and managing post-closing compliance lists, ticklers, and outstanding document requirements
- Following up on recorded mortgages, deeds of trust, UCC filings, title policies, lien releases, insurance documentation, vehicle titles, and other post-closing items
- Communicating directly with lending clients regarding outstanding post-closing requirements and file status
- Coordinating with attorneys, paralegals, title companies, borrowers, and other transaction participants to resolve post-closing matters
- Reviewing returned original documents and ensuring appropriate documents are retained or delivered to the lender
- Assisting with the organization and maintenance of complete electronic and physical loan files
- Preparing servicing and modification documentation for existing loans, including modification agreements, extensions, amendments, collateral substitutions or releases, changes in terms, and other servicing-related documents
- Assisting attorneys and lending clients with documentation relating to changes that occur after a loan has closed
- Monitoring deadlines and helping ensure post-closing and servicing matters are handled accurately and efficiently
- Developing familiarity with SBA requirements, commercial loan documentation, secured transactions, collateral, and lender servicing practices Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree, associate's degree, or paralegal degree/certificate preferred
- Prior experience in a law firm, bank, title company, commercial lending environment, or administrative role is helpful, but not required
- Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple files, assignments, deadlines, and follow-up items at the same time
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Professional, dependable, responsive, and comfortable communicating directly with clients
- Ability to work independently while also functioning as part of a collaborative team
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with established processes and deadlines
- Strong follow-through and willingness to take ownership of assignments from beginning to completion
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Excel), PDF and other loan software
- Willingness to learn and take on increasing responsibility as knowledge and experience develop No prior SBA lending experience is required.
