Job Description

Our client is seeking a Corporate Payroll Manager who will be responsible for leading and overseeing all aspects of payroll operations, ensuring accurate and timely employee compensation while maintaining compliance with all applicable regulations. This role will play a critical part in managing complex, multi-union payroll processes and driving operational excellence across payroll functions. The ideal candidate is a proactive leader who can partner cross-functionally with People & Culture and Finance while fostering an employee-centric payroll experience in a fast-paced, growing environment. Full-Time Responsibilities:
Lead a team of Corporate and Regional Payroll Administrators, ensuring accurate and timely execution of weekly and semi-monthly payroll cycles. Oversee end-to-end processing of union payrolls in compliance with Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBAs). Maintain accurate payroll records, including CBAs, union pay rates, and fringe benefit rates within ERP systems. Review and ensure timely submission of fringe benefits and certified payroll reporting to unions. Serve as the primary point of contact for union payroll inquiries, resolving discrepancies and providing guidance on complex compensation matters. Stay current on changes in union agreements, wage rates, regulatory requirements, and system access protocols. Collaborate with HR, Finance, and Operations teams to ensure seamless payroll operations and compliance. Support business units by resolving payroll discrepancies and escalated issues with urgency. Administer garnishments, court orders, and tax levies in accordance with deadlines and regulations. Ensure compliance with all federal, multi-state, and local payroll tax regulations, including timely filing and payments. Prepare and review payroll-related general journal entries and perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations. Manage payroll tax account setup and maintenance within payroll systems. Conduct quarterly W-2 audits to ensure proper classification and reporting of wages, benefits, and taxes. Assist with payroll integration and training related to acquisitions. Continuously evaluate and recommend improvements to payroll processes, focusing on efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, Economics, or related field with 5+ years of payroll experience OR 10+ years of relevant payroll experience. Strong experience managing union payrolls, preferably within the construction industry. Deep understanding of Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBAs) and union compliance requirements. Proven leadership experience managing payroll teams. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, complex environment. Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments. High attention to detail with a strong focus on accuracy and compliance. Ability to travel up to 10%.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Viewpoint Vista payroll system. Experience with UKG (Ultimate Kronos Group). Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or similar certification. Prior experience in construction or similar union-heavy industries.

Physical Requirements:
Sedentary role requiring prolonged sitting, repetitive motion, and use of standard office equipment. Ability to occasionally lift or move items up to 10 pounds. Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco/Highspring depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual's skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs. With that said, as required by local law in geographies that require salary range disclosure, Vaco/Highspring notes the salary range for the role is noted in this job posting. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, and can participate in medical, dental, and vision benefits as well as the company's 401(k) retirement plan.
