We are looking for an experienced Payroll Director/Manager to oversee payroll operations for a large, multi-state workforce. This contract position requires someone who can manage end-to-end payroll processing, maintain compliance, and support accurate payroll delivery for more than 500 employees. The ideal candidate brings strong expertise with ADP Workforce Now and a solid understanding of payroll administration in a high-volume environment.

Responsibilities:

Lead complete payroll processing activities for a workforce of more than 10K+ employees across multiple states, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in each pay cycle. Manage payroll records, earnings, deductions, tax withholdings, and adjustments while maintaining compliance with applicable payroll regulations. Use ADP Workforce Now to administer payroll transactions, review data integrity, and resolve processing issues efficiently. Monitor multi-state payroll requirements and apply current federal, state, and local payroll guidelines to daily operations. Partner with internal teams to address payroll questions, investigate discrepancies, and provide clear resolution to employee concerns. Review payroll reports and audit results to identify errors, strengthen controls, and improve overall process reliability. Support payroll-related documentation, reporting, and record retention in accordance with organizational and regulatory standards. Proven experience managing full-cycle payroll in a high-volume environment. Hands-on knowledge of multi-state payroll administration and related compliance requirements. Prior responsibility for payroll processing for workforces exceeding 500 employees. Strong proficiency with ADP Workforce Now. Solid understanding of payroll practices, tax withholdings, deductions, and reconciliation processes. High level of accuracy, organization, and attention to detail when handling sensitive payroll data. Ability to troubleshoot payroll issues and communicate effectively with employees and internal stakeholders.
