The Payroll Supervisor ensures accurate and timely payroll processing, oversees payroll accountants, and maintains compliance with payroll regulations. This role provides necessary leadership and operational support to maintain efficiency and strong internal controls while supporting the Payroll Director.Salary Statement :
The salary for this position traditionally starts at $59,800.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience. A Day in theLife:
The essential functions of this role are as follows: Oversee the payroll & accounts payable staff and manage their workflows and workloads within the finance department. Review the processes of accounts payable and payroll to ensure that all payments to vendors follow state/ federal accounting regulations. Review the work of the payroll staff to verify that payable time reported is accurate and follows state/ federal accounting regulations. Formulate, interpret, compile and disseminates all policies and procedures related to the program. Act as a technical consultant to the entire staff, clarifying and interpreting all procedures, providing reference and resolving disputed issues. Reconcile and balance accounting and payroll records. Recruit, select, onboard, and train employees to ensure role responsibilities and expectations are clearly understood while providing opportunities to continue professional development. Set expectations, measure progress, provide ongoing feedback, and evaluate the performance of employees. Ensure work adheres to quality standards, deadlines, and proper procedures. What You'll Need forSuccess:
Individuals in this role should minimally be able to articulate or demonstrate the following: Extensive knowledge of PeopleSoft Financials and Accounts Payable & Payroll modules. Extensive knowledge of Federal & State Regulations regarding GAAP Accounting, Federal & State Regulations regarding Payroll issues, PeopleSoft and Fair Labor Standards Act. Extensive knowledge of Management, Accounting/ Bookkeeping, Business Writing for financial policies and procedures. Extensive knowledge of the State Personnel Department rules, regulations and policies and the ability to apply them in management of staff. Extensive understanding of agency goals & objectives. Extensive knowledge of the Auditor of State payroll systems and processes. Ability to analyze and audit accounts, records, transactions, and reports. Ability to prepare budgets. Ability to delegate work, set clear direction, and manage workflow. Ability to effectively give feedback, provide guidance or corrective action, coach, and develop employee skillsets.
