Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Payroll and HRIS Manager to lead centralized payroll operations and strengthen the systems that support HR services across the organization. This role is ideal for someone who can balance day-to-day payroll accuracy with long-term process improvement, compliance oversight, and cross-functional partnership. The position plays a key part in supporting multi-state payroll for a large employee population while helping maintain reliable HR technology and operational consistency across locations.
Responsibilities:
- Direct centralized payroll oversight for a multi-state workforce, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on schedule across locations, pay groups, and worker classifications.
- Create, refine, and maintain payroll procedures, internal controls, and operating standards that support compliance, consistency, and scalable business operations.
- Review payroll activity completed by local HR teams, identify discrepancies or risk patterns, and guide corrective action to improve quality and reduce recurring errors.
- Act as the primary escalation resource for complex payroll matters, partnering with HR leadership and internal stakeholders to resolve issues efficiently and accurately.
- Coordinate special payroll activities such as off-cycle payments, bonus processing, manual checks, and year-end payroll requirements.
- Partner with Finance, Legal, IT, and HR to support dependable payroll and HRIS operations, including system integrations, reporting needs, and regulatory updates.
- Contribute payroll and HRIS expertise during system implementation, data migration, testing, cutover planning, and post-launch stabilization efforts.
- Develop contingency procedures, backup processes, and recovery plans to help maintain payroll continuity during operational disruptions.
- Train and support site-based HR teams on payroll practices, system usage, and compliance expectations to promote standardized execution across the organization.
