Job Description
Robert Half has partnered with a rapidly growing company in Raleigh, North Carolina to assist them in hiring an experienced Payroll Manager. This role is 100% onsite and requires 5+ years of payroll supervisory experience. The Payroll Manager leads day-to-day payroll operations, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing across a diverse, multi-jurisdiction workforce. This role partners closely with leadership and cross-functional teams to support operational excellence and continuous improvement within payroll. Key ResponsibilitiesLead, manage and train the payroll teamLead weekly payroll processingOversee pay updates related to contract changes and wage requirementsManage payroll corrections, adjustments, bonuses, and commissionsAdminister year‑end activities, including W‑2 adjustments and reportingMaintain payroll tax setup, filings support, and compliance reportingReview payroll reports, variance analyses, and audit documentationMaintain PTO programs, deductions, proration, and final pay calculationsExecute monthly payroll accruals and accounting entriesManage payroll system access, controls, and data securityServe as escalation point for payroll issues and employee inquiriesPartner with HR, Finance, Operations, and field leaders on payroll initiativesQualifications5+ years of payroll leadership experience in a multi-state environmentExperience supporting large, high volume payroll operationsStrong working knowledge of payroll tax, wage & hour, and regulatory complianceHands-on experience with payroll systems, reporting, and auditsAbility to manage complex pay scenarios (commissions, bonuses, prevailing wages)Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skillsClear and effective communicator with a collaborative mindset
