UKG Senior Payroll Specialist Birmingham, AL (On-site) $65,000-$75,000
Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Payroll Specialist to join one of our premier clients. This individual will play a critical role in ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing, compliance with local and federal regulations, and providing exceptional service to our employees. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, bring a strong understanding of payroll systems, and possess excellent problem-solving skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage end-to-end payroll processing for 600+ employees across multiple states Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations. Process and reconcile payroll data, including earnings, deductions, benefits, and taxes. Maintain accurate employee payroll records in the HRIS and payroll systems. Handle payroll audits and resolve discrepancies promptly. Prepare and submit tax filings, including W-2s, 1099s, and other required documentation. Stay updated on changes to payroll laws and regulations, implementing updates as needed. Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to ensure data integrity and resolve employee inquiries regarding payroll. Assist with system upgrades, implementations, and process improvements.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred). Minimum of 3 years of payroll processing experience, with multi-state or international payroll experience a plus. Strong knowledge of payroll systems (UKG preferred) and Microsoft Excel. Comprehensive understanding of payroll laws, regulations, and tax compliance. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. High level of accuracy and attention to detail. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification is a plus.
