Position Overview We are seeking a Payroll Specialist to join our team. The Payroll Specialist is responsible for processing payroll transactions for all employees. Manages employee time records, calculates wages, taxes deductions, and resolves complex payroll issues and discrepancies. Key Responsibilities Performs complex technical work in preparing and processing payroll for all employees. Reviews and validates employee time and attendance records, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and applicable laws. Calculates wages, bonuses, deductions, and overtime pay according to company policies and legal requirements. Enters and updates employee information in the payroll system, including new and recurring personnel actions and changes. Ensures proper withholding and reporting of federal, state, and local taxes, as well as compliance with other payroll-related regulations. Generates payroll reports for management and finance departments, providing insights into labor costs and payroll trends. Addresses and resolves payroll-related inquiries and discrepancies in a timely manner. Maintains accurate payroll records and documentation in accordance with organizational policies and legal requirements. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Minimum:
Associate's degree. Two (2) years of experience in processing payroll, or a closely related field.
Preferred:
Bachelor's degree in human resources, accounting, or related field. Experience in the construction industry. OR an equivalent combination of education, certification, and experience that results in the successful performance of the job. Additional education may substitute for required experience on one-for-one year basis or vice versa. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong knowledge of payroll processing procedures and related laws and regulations. Strong knowledge of payroll software and systems. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills. Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines. Work Environment Sedentary work environment. Work performed generally in the office settings and requires limited physical, ergonomic, or emotional efforts. Work may generally require walking, standing, bending, kneeling, carrying light loads and lifting no more than 10 pounds.
