Job Description

Our client, in the public service industry, is in need for a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to support day-to-day payroll and finance operations for an organization based in the northwest side of Tucson, borderline Oro Valley. This Long-term Contract position is ideal for someone who thrives in a structured environment, values accuracy, and can manage high-volume transactional work with consistency and professionalism. The role focuses on maintaining reliable payroll and financial records, responding to routine questions, and helping ensure documentation is complete, compliant, and ready for review.

This role will go through the beginning of 2027, and has potential to go temp-to-hire for the right person.
Responsibilities:
  • Process payroll for over 300 employees on a semi-monthly basis
  • Prepare and organize supporting documentation so files remain current, accessible, and aligned with audit and retention standards.
  • Perform regular account and transaction reconciliations, identify inconsistencies, and elevate complex issues to supervisory staff when needed.
  • Provide customer service to internal employees by answering payroll and finance questions from employees, vendors, and other stakeholders in a timely and thorough manner.
  • Provide cross-functional backup support for other finance team duties during absences, peak workloads, or shifting departmental needs.
  • Follow established procedures and internal controls to help preserve consistency, compliance, and accuracy in daily financial operations.
  • Assist with additional administrative or accounting tasks that contribute to the smooth operation of the finance department.
