This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced construction environment and enjoys the balance of payroll accuracy, compliance management, and process improvement. The company is seeking someone who can become a trusted resource for both employees and leadership while helping maintain strong payroll and labor compliance practices. Position Overview The Payroll & Compliance Specialist will be responsible for processing payroll, managing certified payroll and prevailing wage requirements, maintaining labor compliance documentation, and supporting workforce reporting efforts. This individual will work closely with accounting, operations, project management, and field teams to ensure payroll is processed accurately and all compliance requirements are met. The ideal candidate will bring strong payroll experience, exceptional attention to detail, and a proactive mindset focused on organization and continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities Process weekly payroll for both union and non-union employees Administer prevailing wage and certified payroll reporting requirements Ensure compliance with union agreements, wage determinations, and labor regulations Maintain accurate payroll records, employee files, and compliance documentation Audit payroll data for accuracy including hours worked, deductions, fringes, and labor allocations Coordinate with project managers and field personnel to collect and verify payroll information Support new hire onboarding documentation and workforce reporting requirements Assist with audits, certified payroll requests, and labor compliance reviews Track union benefits, dues, contributions, and reporting requirements Identify opportunities to improve payroll and compliance processes and workflows Required Qualifications 3-5 years of payroll administration experience Experience proccessing union payroll and prevailing wage payroll Beginning understanding of certified payroll reporting and labor compliance requirements Experience working within construction, mechanical contracting, or related project-based industries Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to manage confidential information with professionalism and discretion Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and payroll software systems Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting both payroll and compliance functions simultaneously Knowledge of California prevailing wage requirements Experience with certified payroll platforms and labor compliance software Exposure to HR administration and employee onboarding processes Construction industry accounting or project-costing experience Physical & Work Environment Expectations Fully on-site role located in Chino, CA Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods Frequent collaboration with accounting, operations, project management, and field personnel Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in a deadline-driven environment Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. Tiello LLC is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
