The Certified Payroll Specialist is responsible for processing payroll accurately and on time, maintaining payroll records, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws, and supporting audits, reporting, and employee payroll inquiries. This role typically requires strong knowledge of payroll systems, tax withholding, garnishments, benefits deductions, and certified payroll reporting requirements.

Process weekly, biweekly, semimonthly, or monthly payroll for employeesPrepare and submit certified payroll reports as requiredMaintain payroll records, earnings, deductions, taxes, and direct deposit informationEnsure compliance with prevailing wage, union, and government contract payroll requirementsReconcile payroll reports, general ledger entries, and tax filingsAdminister wage garnishments, benefit deductions, and payroll adjustmentsRespond to employee questions regarding pay, taxes, and deductionsSupport payroll audits and year-end processing, including W-2 preparationPartner with HR, finance, and project teams to validate employee and labor dataMonitor changes in payroll laws and regulations to maintain compliance
