Payroll Specialist Job Description:
Job Overview The Payroll team is responsible for all activities required to complete the payroll process. The Payroll Specialist l will perform tasks to establish and maintain employee/payroll records for weekly and biweekly multi-state payrolls. Duties may include entering timecard adjustments, new hires, retros, and bonuses into the payroll system. The Payroll Specialist l must demonstrate general understanding in the following areas of payroll processing, time and attendance, and operational best practices. Roles & Responsibilities To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned. Complete daily departmental tasks and process work related to on-cycle and off-cycle payrolls in accordance with established payroll deadlines. Support and maintain effective communication with employees regarding general payroll inquiries, ensuring their questions are addressed and requirements are identified and consistently met. Review and process employee timecards, payroll adjustments, and benefit-related deductions or corrections to ensure payroll accuracy. Calculate and process retroactive payroll adjustments, ensuring correct pay rates, hours, and applicable taxes are applied. Process employee terminations, including calculating final pay, reviewing accrued balances, ensuring compliance with applicable state requirements, and coordinating with HR to ensure timely payment. Audit payroll data and reports to identify discrepancies and ensure accurate payroll processing prior to payroll completion. Review and validate employee data changes, including pay rates, deductions, direct deposit updates, and job changes to ensure payroll accuracy. Assist with payroll reconciliations, reporting, and documentation to support compliance and audit readiness. Complete additional projects and tasks as assigned by the Payroll Manager. Qualification To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience Minimum 1 year of Payroll experience in a fast-paced, multi-state, demanding environment High School Diploma required. Experience working with larger payroll systems that integrate or interface with other systems Certificates, Licenses, Registrations May be required to have a valid driver's license. FPC designation preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Good written and verbal communication skills Strong organizational skills and detail oriented Proficiency in Microsoft applications Supervisory Responsibilities This position has no supervisory responsibilities. Compensation:
$24.00 - $25.00 per hour
