Position Summary The Payroll Coordinator plays a critical role in ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing for our temporary workforce. This position works closely with Operations, Recruiting, HR, Accounting, clients, and employees to support weekly payroll processing and timekeeping functions in a fast-paced staffing environment. The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, enjoys working with numbers, and can effectively manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy. This role requires excellent communication skills, strong problem-solving abilities, and the ability to work efficiently under strict payroll deadlines. Key Responsibilities Process weekly payroll for temporary, contract, and internal employees. Review, audit, and validate employee timecards, punches, and client approvals for accuracy. Enter payroll information into the payroll system and verify employee pay rates, hours worked, and assignment details. Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies, including missing punches, rate changes, corrections, and timekeeping errors. Process payroll adjustments, off-cycle checks, retroactive pay, bonuses, and other payroll corrections as needed. Serve as the primary payroll point of contact for employees and clients, responding to payroll questions professionally and promptly. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws, including overtime, minimum wage, paid sick leave, meal and rest break requirements, and final paycheck regulations. Maintain accurate payroll records, employee documentation, and audit files. Assist with payroll reporting, reconciliations, audits, and continuous process improvements. Support new employee onboarding by ensuring payroll information is complete and accurate. Maintain confidentiality of employee payroll and personal information. Collaborate with Operations, Recruiting, HR, and Accounting to ensure payroll is processed accurately and on time. Perform additional payroll and administrative duties as assigned. Qualifications 1-3 years of payroll experience preferred. Experience in staffing, workforce solutions, or high-volume payroll is a plus but not required. Experience working with employees and clients by phone and email. Strong knowledge of payroll processes and timekeeping systems. Basic understanding of California wage and hour laws is preferred. Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, and Microsoft Office. Excellent organizational and time-management skills. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks while meeting strict payroll deadlines. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
