Job Description

Overview Join our dynamic team as a Bookkeeper and Payroll Specialist, where your expertise in business accounting and payroll processing will drive the accuracy and efficiency of our accounting operations. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work with diverse financial software and accounting principles, ensuring compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and supporting our organization's financial health. You will be instrumental in maintaining precise financial records, managing payroll functions, and contributing to the overall success of our organization through meticulous bookkeeping and payroll administration. Responsibilities Manage day-to-day bookkeeping activities using accounting software such as QuickBooks and Excel, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded. Perform bank reconciliations, account reconciliations, and general ledger accounting to maintain precise financial data. Prepare and process journal entries, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and vendor payments with attention to detail. Reconcile balance sheets regularly through detailed analysis of debits & credits, ensuring alignment with financial reports. Administer payroll functions including processing timesheets, tax deductions, completing employee changes, and issuing timely payments in compliance with applicable laws. Maintain comprehensive records of financial transactions, including double entry bookkeeping and general ledger reconciliation. Assist in budgeting processes and prepare financial reports that support strategic decision-making. Ensure compliance with governmental accounting standards and tax regulations by staying current on relevant laws and regulations. Conduct account analysis to identify discrepancies or irregularities and resolve issues promptly. Support year-end closing procedures and audit preparations by providing accurate documentation and reports. Qualifications Proven experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks and Excel; familiarity with Quicken is a plus. Strong understanding of corporate accounting principles, GAAP standards, and governmental accounting requirements. Experience with non-profit accounting a plus. Demonstrated ability in bank reconciliation, account reconciliation, balance sheet reconciliation, and general ledger accounting. Knowledge of double entry bookkeeping systems, journal entries, debits & credits, and financial concepts. Experience with running payroll for an entire agency with 100+ employees, processing wage garnishments, experience using a payroll software such as Paylocity. Experience managing accounts payable and receivable processes along with payroll administration. Familiarity with tax experience related to payroll taxes and other governmental filings. Excellent skills in account analysis, financial report writing, budgeting, and technical accounting practices. Ability to navigate a computer efficiently including using Microsoft Office, Excel, and Quick books is required. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail for account reconciliation and general ledger maintenance. Effective communicator both written and verbal and able to explain complex financial data clearly to team members or auditors. Ability to work with multiple people in a professional manner including having telephone etiquette to work with vendors and Program Managers. Work with Finance Director to complete monthly general ledger account analysis Join us in a role that combines precision with impact! This position will report directly to the Finance Director and Executive Director The schedule is Mon-Friday 9a-5p and pay range is $26-$28 per hour based on experience.
