SUMMARY / OBJECTIVE
The Payroll Specialist III is responsible for handling complex payroll processes, including multi-state payrolls, certified payrolls, and high-volume check counts (3,000+). This role requires a comprehensive understanding of Payroll Specialist I and II responsibilities, timeclock troubleshooting, position rates, and setup/import payrolls. The Payroll Specialist III provides expert support and ensures timely, accurate payroll processing for the organization.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Process Payroll:
Fully manage and process multi-state payrolls, certified payrolls, and import payrolls. Handle high-volume payrolls (3,000+ checks) with accuracy and efficiency.
Timeclock Troubleshooting:
Troubleshoot and resolve timeclock system issues, ensuring smooth integration with payroll processes.
Expert Knowledge of Payroll Systems:
Understand and execute processes for payroll setup, position rates, and payroll imports. Provide expert guidance on wage and hour issues for complex payroll scenarios.
Compliance and Reporting:
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws in all payroll activities. Prepare accurate reports and audits to ensure compliance with company standards and legal requirements.
Client and Employee Support:
Provide advanced support to clients and employees regarding payroll inquiries and issues. Assist in escalated payroll problem resolution, collaborating with the Payroll Manager as needed.
Leadership and Mentoring:
Assist in training junior payroll specialists and collaborate with team members on process improvements.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Six (6) or more years of payroll experience, with a focus on multi-state and certified payrolls. Proven ability to handle large payroll check counts (3,000+).
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Experience with payroll software systems. Associate's degree in Accounting or a related field is preferred.
