Bookkeeping & Payroll Specialist RFSW | JESUP, Iowa RFSW is looking for a dependable, detail-oriented Bookkeeping & Payroll Specialist to join our JESUP office, with occasional travel as business needs require to our OELWEIN office. This position is a great fit for someone who enjoys working directly with clients, keeping financial records organized and accurate, processing payroll, and supporting a busy public accounting team. The role will primarily focus on bookkeeping and payroll, with opportunities to assist with tax preparation and other general accounting functions. Wage & Benefits $60,000-$75,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications Health/medical insurance Dental & Vision Insurance Health Savings Account (HSA) 401(k) with employer matching Paid holidays, vacation, sick time Key Responsibilities Maintain client financial records and general ledger accounts Enter and categorize transactions in QuickBooks and other accounting software Complete bank and account reconciliations Prepare journal entries and assist with monthly close processes Maintain accounts payable and accounts receivable records as needed Prepare basic financial reports and supporting schedules Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) Process client payroll, including wages, deductions, benefits, and payroll taxes Prepare payroll reports and assist with payroll tax filings Respond to client bookkeeping and payroll questions Maintain organized client records and supporting documentation Assist CPAs and other team members with tax preparation support and general accounting duties Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field, or at least two years of relevant bookkeeping, payroll, accounting, or public accounting experience required Previous bookkeeping, payroll, or accounting experience preferred QuickBooks certification preferred Strong understanding of bookkeeping, general ledger accounting, and reconciliations Payroll processing experience strongly preferred Familiarity with payroll tax requirements and reporting Experience with Lacerte or other tax software is a plus Strong attention to detail, organization, and accuracy Ability to manage multiple clients and recurring deadlines Professional communication skills and ability to maintain confidentiality We're looking for someone who takes ownership of their work, values accuracy, and enjoys helping clients keep their books and payroll running smoothly.
