Job Description

Purpose/Description The Department Supervisor 1 will perform complex timekeeping and payroll functions for the Wayne County Juvenile Detention Facility.
Duties include:
payroll and timekeeping data entries, calculations, and reports; adhere to all collective bargaining agreement contracts, personnel and payroll policies, guidelines, and procedures; interface with the Department of Personnel/Human Resource to process payroll transactions and conduct research and complex analysis of various payroll and personnel data. This position includes a 35% premium while employed at the Juvenile Detention Facility.
Starting salary:
$49,769.00 Required Tasks Perform all payroll and timekeeping activities for the Wayne County Juvenile Detention Facility . Accurately and precisely enter reported worked hours into the payroll processing system for both hourly employees on the time clock and employees on the self-service system as necessary under the direction of leadership . Verify hours worked with payroll system as well as other time tracking logs. Review overtime sign in sheets and call off logs to verify hours and bring discrepancies to the attention of supervision. Review data drop into payroll system to adjust hours and pay codes as necessary. Review payroll reports for accuracy. Process new hires and separations in required systems. Prepare various reports and memos relative to payroll and timekeeping. Perform complex and technical timekeeping calculations. Track employee attendance. Perform additional duties, as assigned. Educational Requirements A High School Diploma or G.E.D. Experience Requirements At least three (3) years working with payroll processing procedures
Preferred:
Previous experience with NovaTime, SimplyWork and/or Oracle Special Conditions Candidates must receive clearance to work in a childcaring institution from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services as well as Child Protective Services. Candidates that have lived outside of the State of Michigan must provide clearance from that state.
