By maintaining the integrity of our payroll systems, you build the trust that allows our entire district to focus on what matters most: student success. Role Summary The Payroll Specialist performs the critical technical and clerical duties necessary for the seamless processing of district-wide payroll. Working closely with Finance and Human Resources, you will maintain employee records, manage complex deductions, and ensure that every transaction complies with district procedures and state/federal laws. You are the go-to resource for staff questions, helping to ensure that our team of 2,000+ employees is supported and valued. Why You'll Succeed (Qualifications)Educationally Prepared:
High school diploma or equivalent required; additional coursework in accounting or business is a major plus .Technical Expert:
Prior experience in automated payroll processing is preferred—specifically within a school district or governmental setting .Numerical Aptitude:
You have a strong "head for numbers" and a high level of attention to detail for reconciliations and calculations.Confidentiality Pro:
You understand the sensitive nature of employee data and handle all information with absolute discretion.Customer Service Mindset:
You enjoy solving problems and explaining complex payroll procedures to employees in a clear, friendly, and professional manner. Your Impact (Key Duties)Precision Processing:
Prepare and process bi-weekly and semi-monthly payrolls for all district employee groups, ensuring total accuracy.Data Stewardship:
Maintain accurate payroll files, process W-4 updates, and manage direct deposit changes for the entire staff.Complex Deductions:
Expertly handle wage garnishments, union dues, and voluntary benefit deductions .Leave Management:
Reconcile leave balances, including vacation and sick leave, to ensure staff records are always current.Compliance & Reporting:
Prepare registers and supporting documentation for internal and external audits.Collaborative Problem Solving:
Partner with Human Resources daily to resolve discrepancies and improve cross-functional processes . Your Leadership PartnersPrimary Support:
