Description:

The Accounting and Payroll Specialist reports to the Controller and is responsible for all areas relating to payroll, including Time and Attendance, payroll submission, certified payroll and State and Local payroll Compliance requirements.

Core functions of the role:

Manage workflow from time management system to payroll system to ensure all Time and Attendance data is accurate and timely. Execute Time and Attendance processing and interface with payroll system. Consistently and accurately process payroll for 180+ employees ensuring strict adherence to labor laws, tax regulations, and company policies. Process and audit payroll data such as garnishments, PTO, insurance, 401(k) deductions, other deductions, and reimbursements for accuracy. Function as primary liaison between payroll vendor and the organization. Primary employee contact for all payroll related issues. Investigate and fix pay discrepancies or employee inquiries promptly. Maintain State and Local tax and SUI accounts. Compile internal management reports from payroll system software. Prepare required subcontractor certified payroll reports. Assist Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and management, as necessary. Communicate with HR team to make necessary employee changes/updates. Conduct year-end reporting for W-2s, 941's etc. Always comply with all legal and institutional requirements. Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. Demonstrate respect for employee privacy. Assist with yearly audit. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Certified payroll creation and submission experience. Working knowledge of payroll best practices. Must have an elevated level of attention to detail, meticulous record keeping, and organizational skills. Ability to deal sensitively with confidential material. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills. Maturity and a strong sense of integrity. Ability to prioritize tasks. Strong critical thinking skills. Self-motivated and resourceful. Exceptional commitment to accuracy. Ability to build and maintain effective customer/client relationships. Experience with Microsoft Suite to include Word, Excel, and Outlook. Experience with Paylocity highly preferred.
