Job Description
Position Reports to:
Payroll Manager Function of Position :
Reporting to the Payroll Manager, the Payroll Specialist is responsible for processing payrolls for the hourly (bi-weekly) and salary (monthly) payrolls and the student payroll (semi-monthly).Principal Duties and Responsibilities :
- Process monthly and semi-monthly payrolls including collection of all necessary data for input to the colleague system for accurate pay calculations.
- Providing audit reports for each pay for approval by Payroll manager.
- Organizing all aspects of each pay, including Stipends, Benefits, PTO, New Hires and Terminations.
- Updating all spreadsheets associated with Pay, Vacation, Fringe, and Taxes.
- Troubleshooting timecard issues and helping Supervisors with these issues.
- Providing tax Information for each pay and recording on tax summary spreadsheet for payment.
- Run the PTO accrual on a yearly basis and bi-weekly for hourly employees and adjust any employee based on hire date.
- Run all reports corresponding to each pay and distribute to appropriate personnel.
- Process all garnishments and child support orders according to court specifications.
- Complete employment verifications in a timely manner.
- Assist the payroll manager with any projects or audits.
- Maintain professional knowledge regarding any changes in payroll laws or processing.
- Any additional duties given by payroll manager or controller as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
A high school degree and specialized knowledge of payroll and human resources related matters along with a minimum of three years effective experience. The candidate must have excellent oral, interpersonal and written communication skills; demonstrated experience in the successful completion of multiple projects and responsibilities; and proven success in a team environment. Must have the necessary skills to effectively utilize Microsoft Office including word, excel and outlook. Experience with Ellucian Colleague is a plus.Job Type:
