Job Title:
Payroll Specialist Job Description The Payroll Specialist will manage full-cycle payroll processing for approximately 185 employees across two locations while supporting additional accounting functions. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who enjoys a mix of payroll and transactional accounting work in a collaborative, growth-focused environment. Responsibilities Process weekly and biweekly payroll accurately and on time for approximately 185 employees across two entities. Manage all payroll-related functions, including deductions, garnishments, benefits, and compliance requirements. Maintain strong payroll controls and ensure accuracy and consistency across both locations. Utilize Paylocity for payroll processing, reporting, and related payroll tasks. Perform primary payroll processing activities on Mondays and Tuesdays in accordance with established schedules. Provide support to Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) functions later in the week, based on experience and skillset. Assist with general transactional accounting responsibilities as needed. Ensure all payroll and accounting transactions are recorded accurately and in a timely manner. Collaborate with team members and leadership to resolve payroll and accounting inquiries. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of payroll regulations and internal policies to support compliance. Essential Skills Minimum 2+ years of hands-on payroll experience. Proven experience with full-cycle payroll processing for a multi-employee environment. Payroll certification such as CPP or equivalent, or comparable credential in place of a degree. Demonstrated ability to manage high-volume transactional work with strong attention to detail. Experience managing payroll deductions, garnishments, benefits, and compliance. Ability to support multiple functions and adapt in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency with payroll systems, with specific experience using Paylocity preferred. Strong organizational skills and ability to meet recurring deadlines. Solid numerical and analytical skills to ensure accuracy in payroll and accounting transactions. Additional Skills & Qualifications Finance or accounting background preferred, through education or relevant work experience. Experience with Paylocity is strongly preferred for payroll processing and reporting. Comfort working across both payroll and transactional accounting functions such as AP and AR. Ability to collaborate effectively within a small, tight-knit team. Strong communication skills to interact with employees and leadership regarding payroll and accounting matters. Proactive mindset with the ability to identify and resolve issues in payroll and accounting processes. Work Environment This is a fully on-site position, Monday through Friday, with standard hours of 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. The work environment offers a team-oriented, collaborative culture with a small company feel and a clear growth trajectory. The organization has approximately 33 employees, providing direct visibility to leadership, including the Controller and CFO. The role uses Paylocity as the primary payroll system and involves regular interaction with accounting processes such as Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Harrisburg, PA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $55000.00 - $70000.00/yr.
