Job Description
Are you an experienced payroll professional looking for a role where you can take ownership, solve complex payroll issues, and continue growing your career? We're working with a well-established organization seeking a Senior Payroll Specialist to join its team and play a key role in managing payroll operations. This position is ideal for someone with strong hands-on payroll experience who is comfortable managing a high-volume, multi-state payroll environment from start to finish. The right person will understand payroll taxes, garnishments, unemployment, benefits deductions, and reconciliations, while also bringing the ability to troubleshoot issues and improve processes. Experience participating in a payroll system implementation or conversion is especially valuable.
Key Requirements:
3+ years of comprehensive payroll processing experience Experience with high-volume and/or multi-state payroll Strong understanding of federal, state, and local payroll taxes Experience with garnishments, unemployment, and payroll-related reporting Previous involvement with a payroll system implementation or conversion preferred Strong Excel skills Experience with payroll and benefits reconciliations Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines Strong communication and problem-solving skills Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field preferredMain Responsibilities:
Manage and process bi-weekly payroll from start to finish Ensure payroll accuracy and compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations Handle payroll tax reporting and year-end W-2 processing Process garnishments, deductions, and other payroll-related adjustments Reconcile payroll and benefits-related accounts and vendor payments Maintain accurate employee and payroll data Partner with HR and other internal departments to resolve payroll questions and discrepancies Support employees with payroll-related questions and concerns Assist with payroll system upgrades, implementations, and process improvements Prepare payroll reports and maintain accurate records for accounting and audit purposesWhat We Offer:
